Considerations for the future (but not too late to consider now).⠀⠀
⠀ Many of us have been humbled, forced into gratitude for the simple delights of the liberty that we once enjoyed. Despite the advances and magic of today's world, its technology and high level function, humanity has been humbled. The replication of an inanimate organism has wreaked havoc on the whole of society. ⠀⠀ If there is a single lesson to be learnt, it is that we are never fully in control of our own destiny as a society. The actions of others, the choices of others, will always influence the rest of the world. Such influence may be minuscule, or profound, as has been demonstrated with the current chaos caused in the world, by the responses and decisions of a few. ⠀ It is these decisions that must be explored now, rather than later. There are many many questions to be asked, not in later reflection, but actively and in present space and forum.⠀⠀ Why should we ask later, why healthcare staff were allowed to die from the lack of PPE? Why should we ask later, rather than expect answers now, why delays in Lockdowns, for example, were acceptable at the expense of human life, the lives of our fellow people? ⠀⠀ Many will pay for the current crises with their lives. Most will be left with moral questions. We will be left to answer, why the fates of so many, were left to a powerful few, who may not have held individual life with the same value as you or I. ⠀⠀ But such questions; we have the opportunity to ask them now. To expect answers now, and to hold accountable those that may not be making the decisions best for our society or for humanity. ⠀⠀ The reminder of humility is constant. The time to reflect, on the questions we are all asking ourselves, is the present. The time to act on them, is right now. 🖋Zahir Mirza⠀ Comments are closed.
